My collaborator on this song is G.T. Albright, an amazing singer, songwriter, producer, and all-around good guy. G.T. lives in Lane County, Oregon, and he's the first musician who completed one of my songs. Since then, we've done many songs together. For much of my life, I have felt like I didn't belong. I feel like an outsider. But, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you'll hear when you listen. This song accurately reflects my thinking on this.
Livin’ in the margins
At the edge of the page
Life behind the curtain
Not out on the stage
Livin’ in the white space
Silent ambition
A college degree
With no tuition
Out of the action
Not part of the story
But that don’t matter
No need for the glory
Livin’ in the margins
At the edge of the page
Life behind the curtain
Not out on the stage
Watchin’
Waitin’
Quietly anticipatin’
And all the while
Creatin’
We can’t all be leaders
Not everyone’s a star
You don’t need headlines
To go very far
No, you don’t need headlines
To go very far
So write your own music
Sing your own songs
Find that place
The place you belong
Livin’ in the margins
At the edge of the page
Life behind the curtain
Not out on the stage
